Welcome from the Dean of Students

Welcome to Tiffin University! It is my pleasure and privilege to serve as your Dean of Students. The Office of Student Affairs is committed to high quality and excellence while serving as the primary advocate for student life and helping you take full advantage of the countless resources available to you both in and out of the classroom. Over the past years, Tiffin University has experienced unprecedented growth and development while maintaining the student-centered approach whether on-campus, online, or at a satellite campus both in Ohio and around the globe. We believe in the mission of transforming lives through education while appreciating the cultural uniqueness of all individuals set forth in our Guiding Principles.

Name: Michael Herdlick

Current Roles: Dean of Students and Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Tiffin University

Previous Roles: served in a number of capacities including Adjunct Professor, Instructor of Mathematics and Director of Institutional Research

Started at TU: 2001

Degrees & Certificates: B.A. in Mathematics and Liberal Arts from Malone University in Canton, Ohio, M.S. in Mathematics from New Mexico Tech in Socorro, New Mexico, Graduate Certificates in Institutional Research from Florida State University and a Student Affairs/Higher Education Administration from Colorado State University.

Family: wife Deidre, Director of Human Resources at TU, daughter Maddy, a Senior at Columbian High School and son Sawyer, a Freshman at Columbian
 
 

The Mission of the Dean of Students

  • Chief student advocate for the University, assisting them in successful transition to college life
  • Promote the Guiding Principles for the student body to transform their lives
  • Design and enhance student leadership opportunities in various modalities at both the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Collaborate and support the functions of academic and non-academic areas by bridging all departments
  • Assess the educational and social experiences of students in order to improve institutional programs
  • Provide and interpret information about students during the development and modification of institutional policies, services, and practices
  • Effectively manage the human, technical and fiscal resources for which the office of Student Affairs is responsible
  • Encourage development of friendships among students and a sense of community within the institution
  • Help students appreciate the cultural uniqueness of all campus community members
  • Encourage faculty-student interaction in programs and activities
  • Support and advance institutional values by developing and enforcing behavioral standards for students
  • Provide programs and services for students who want to improve their study skills

Brianne Fox

Hailing from Columbus, OH I attended The University of Findlay and completed my Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration. There, I participated in the Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity focusing my studies on the therapeutic impact victim support groups and advocacy groups have on victims of violent crime. In 2015, I completed my Master of Business Administration in Human Resources Management at Tiffin University. Since working for TU, I have held roles within Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs, and Equity, Access & Opportunity (Institutional Diversity).

Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with my husband, Noah and our cat Amigo. I also enjoy doing home projects, spending time outdoors, camping and good music!

Sharon Perry-Fantini, Ph.D.

Professor Perry-Fantini earned a Ph.D. in Organizational Management from Capella University. She also holds a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Tiffin University and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Human Resource Management and Organizational Management. The British Standards Institution granted her certification as a Quality Lead Auditor for ISO 9000 in 2001. In 2000, she completed certification in Professional Human Resource Management from the University of Toledo and the Society of Human Resource Management.

She teaches courses in human resources, organizational behavior, and organizational communications. Additionally, she teaches labor relations at the community college level. Before joining the ranks of a full-time faculty member, she served as the Executive Director of Degree Completion Admissions. During her tenure, the number of students enrolled in the bachelor’s degree completion programs in business administration and criminal justice increased by 49% in two years. Additionally, geographic expansion and online delivery increased. She served several organizations in positions such as, human resources, trainer, benefits coordinator, lead auditor, radio script writer, and voice talent.

She is a member of the Terra State Community College Advisory Board. Previously, she was an executive board member of the Lorain County Urban League and a member of the Ohio Transfer Council. She has also served on Tiffin University’s Strategic Planning Committee, Portal Committee, Website Redesign Committee, and Information Technology Committee.

Her research interests include social development centered on the concept of identity by Erik Erikson, structural diversity, organizational transformation, classroom diversity, democracy outcomes, and adult learning theory. Her mission which fully fosters reflective thinking allows learners the opportunity to think about complex challenges or issues from different perspectives.

Kenneth Santos

Growing up in a Navy family, I have lived in several states along the East Coast. I attended Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD and completed my Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice. While there I participated in the Criminal Justice Student Association coordinating with students and emergency professionals alike to develop and implement different educational and professional development opportunities. I also volunteered in the theater program as one of the Technical designers. I am currently working on my Master of Criminal Justice in Forensic Psychology here at Tiffin University. I also am FEMA certified in IS-100.HE, IS-200.b, IS-360, IS-368, IS-700.a, and IS-907. Since arriving at TU, I have held roles with the Equity, Access, & Opportunity Office.

Outside of the office, I enjoy volunteering as the Production Manager within the Dragons Den Theater. I also enjoy camping, working on cars, woodworking, construction/home renovation, and good music.
