TU Pledge: Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for the TU Pledge?

Students who:

  • Are new full-time, traditional undergraduate students and will start classes at TU in fall, 2021. (The TU Pledge does not extend to part-time, international, transfer, online, extended learning, graduate or doctoral program students)
  • Have graduated from an Ohio high school (public, private, charter, parochial or home school program) in 2021.
  • Have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the first day of classes.
  • Live in the state of Ohio at the time the FAFSA is filed.
  • Are admitted to Tiffin University as a full-time, traditional undergraduate student in Fall 2021.
  • Is continuously enrolled full-time on campus, in order to maintain eligibility.

I am a student that lives outside the state of Ohio. Does Tiffin University offer a scholarship program for students like me?

  • Tiffin University offers various forms of financial aid for those from outside of Ohio. To learn more, please go to tiffin.edu/finaid/scholarship.

What is included in the TU Pledge?

  • Tiffin University guarantees that eligible students will pay a tuition rate of no more than half of the current on-campus tuition.
  • Room and board, books and fees are not included in the TU Pledge.
  • The calculation of half-tuition considers Tiffin University institutional aid {Athletic Scholarship, Tiffin Arts Scholarship, Blaze Grant}, federal aid {Pell Grant and the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)} and state aid {Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)}. If the total of these awards does not cover a minimum of half of the tuition, the TU Pledge will supplement your financial aid package to guarantee you pay no more than half the tuition rate.  The TU Pledge is renewable for fall and spring semesters for up to four years of the student’s undergraduate on-campus career.
  • Institutional aid will not be refunded as a credit balance to the student.

Are current students eligible for the TU Pledge?

Are commuter and residential students eligible?

  • Yes. Residential status (living on campus or commuting from home) is not a factor in eligibility.
  • For students living on campus, room and board costs are in addition to tuition and not included in the TU Pledge.

How do I apply for admission to Tiffin University?

Do I need to complete the FAFSA?

  • Yes. Completion of the FAFSA is required to qualify for the TU Pledge. To complete the FAFSA, go to studentaid.gov or download the myStudentAid mobile app.

How will I know if I qualify for the TU Pledge?

  • The TU Pledge will be confirmed when you receive your formal financial aid package from Tiffin University. Financial aid counselors will review your package to ensure it meets the TU Pledge. Please keep in mind that aid packages may change as you may become eligible for other scholarships or grants.  The TU Pledge is a combination of Insitutional, Federal, and State Aid that we are offering half-tuition.
